Watch the Gulf... Watch the Storms in the Plains!

1. While the Pacific has become active with Carlotta, it's just a matter of time before we see the southern Gulf of Mexico and around the Yucatan Peninsula become active with thunderstorms and potentially a depression or storm in the southern Gulf next week. With the way the ridge is building in, it would appear that if any storm does develop it would go into Mexico or perhaps as far north as southern Texas. For now, let's just get a storm going before we speculate on any paths. In the meantime, Carlotta will produce over a foot of rain across parts of southern Mexico which will result in some nasty flooding for those folks.

2. The High Plains will have storms again today as shown on the map below. A few tornadoes, large hail and damaging wind gusts will be the impacts with the storms.
