Watch Now: AccuWeather LIVE Discusses Dorian's Track

July 25, 2013; 7:09 PM

On the latest edition of AccuWeather LIVE, our meteorologists provided your up-to-date forecast, and the most current information on Tropical Storm Dorian's progression.

Now that we are officially in the dog days of summer, we explained where that phrase comes from. We also hosted a representative with the New England Aquarium to discuss the biggest water concerns for beachgoers, focusing on how the warmer waters of summer impact marine life populations and bacteria growth.

Additionally, we covered the best ways to help your pets beat the heat this summer.

Dogs and cats are unable to cool themselves the way people can. As Kirsten Theisen, the director of Pet Care Issues for the Humane Society of the United States, puts it, "Dogs and cats pant through their mouths. Obviously, that means moisture has to leave and if they are breathing very wet air themselves, it's harder for them to cool off through panting or the pads of their feet."

As always, our social segment provided answers to fan questions and our best weather pictures of the week.

If you have a question or photo for us, submit them on our Facebook, Twitter, or Google+ account and tune in at 4 p.m. EDT on Thursday to see if it ends up on the show.
