Another Soaking on the Horizon for Boston

April 07, 2014; 12:32 AM

Umbrellas will get a break in Boston until soaking rain returns Monday night.

An area of high pressure will allow dry weather to prevail across eastern Massachusetts through Monday.

Highs in the middle 50s are expected on Monday. Clouds, though, will be on the increase ahead of a storm system tracking northeastward from the Gulf of Mexico.

The storm's soaking rain will reach Boston Monday night with around a quick inch expected to fall.

Widespread flash flooding is not anticipated, but there could be isolated issues in poor drainage areas. The main impacts of the rain will be an increased use in umbrellas, as well as slow downs and reduced visibility for motorists.

The rain will end on Tuesday morning with temperatures set to rebound to around 60 F. Brisk winds will follow for Wednesday.

A surge of milder air will cause Thursday to rival or become Boston's warmest day so far this year.
