Maryland Microburst Damages Buildings, Injures Two

A microburst in Bladensburg, Md., damaged several buildings injured two people at about 8:00 p.m. EDT Friday.
Prince George's County Fire/Emergency Medical Services Department responded to the scene and confirmed damages from a microburst, a sudden burst of strong winds.
More than 235 calls came in over a four hour period according to a press release.
The microburst damaged 15 multi-family dwellings and one single-family dwelling and injured two people. The building sustained roof or other structural damage.
Debris from the buildings landed on vehicles causing additional damage.
As of Saturday afternoon, an estimated 300-600 residents are displaced from their homes. A temporary shelter was set up Friday night at the Rodgers Heights Elementary School.
Evacuees are being relocated starting at 2 p.m. EDT Saturday to the Bladensburg High School.
All of the damaged buildings have been condemned pending further inspection by officials.
The Red Cross and Department of Social Services are reported to be on scene to assist residents.
