Tranquil Weather Returns to Boston Wednesday to Friday

November 20, 2013; 6:28 AM

After a blustery start to the week, more tranquil and mild conditions will return around Boston for the second half of the week.

Much less wind is in store for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

The temperature trend will bottom out Wednesday with highs projected to be around 40 degrees.

Highs are forecast to trend upward later in the week, reaching the lower 50s Friday.

However, the mild weather will not last for long.

A potent storm system will affect the area this coming weekend with the chance of rain Saturday, then the potential for high winds on Sunday, bringing in the coldest blast of air of the season so far.

The storm this weekend could bring a wintry mix to parts of northern New England.
