Big & Rich – WinStar World Casino, Thackerville, Okla.
There’s only one place to be Friday night if you want to have yourself a “big and rich time,” as the country duo sings on their biggest hit “Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy).” After a short split to explore solo projects, members Big Kenny and John Rich reunited and are set to release a new album. In Rich’s words, their high-energy, excitable concert “ has grannies with walkers dancing in the aisles.”Who doesn’t want to see that? Tickets for Friday’s show start at $57.
Saturday, June 30
Pittsburgh Pirates at St. Louis Cardinals, Busch Stadium, St. Louis, Mo.
With both teams within two games of the division lead, this series will go a long way to determining the prohibitive favorite for NL Central champ. The matchup also presents a compelling competition for All-Star outfielder positions with Pittsburgh centerfielder Andrew McCutchen and the Cardinals Carlos Beltran. McCutchen relies on a smooth swing, speed, and defense, while Beltran swings for the fences. Any game featuring two of the best players in the league is sure to be exciting. Tickets for Saturday’s game start at $7

Philadelphia Union at Houston Dynamo, BBVA Compass Stadium, Houston, Texas
The Dynamo reached the MLS Cup Finals last year, and have picked up right where they left off in the young soccer season. Forward Will Bruin has kept Houston afloat with a torrid nine goals, and the Dynamo’s fundamental defense plays a clean, fluid game, accounting for the least fouls in the league. The Union, meanwhile, have had a slow start to the year but are coming off a 4-0 domination and their arrow points upward. Tickets for Saturday’s game start at $28.
Sunday, July 1
Vans Warped Tour – Reliant Center Parking Lot, Houston, Texas
In what has become a summer staple, the Vans Warped Tour travels through Texas this weekend, making stops in San Antonio on Saturday, Houston on Sunday, and Dallas on Tuesday. Now in its 18th year, the all-day punk rock festival is headlined by Taking Back Sunday and features alternative mainstays in Rise Against and Lostprophets. There is sure to be plenty of attitude, long hair, and shredding guitar when the bands hit the circuit. Tickets for Sunday’s show begin at $99.
New Edition – Verizon Arena, North Little Rock, Ark.
The R&B group New Edition practically invented the modern boy band, led by the temperamental but charismatic Bobby Brown. Over the years, Brown went solo, and three other members split off for the group Bell Biv Devoe. Now, all six former members are back on stage, and though they are older, expect harmonies and synchronized dance moves galore. Tickets for Sunday’s show start at $66.
