As of Monday evening, EST, a tropical low that was once Tropical Cyclone Owen has entered tropical waters of the Gulf of Carpentaria. The low is forecast to redevelop, likely regaining tropical cyclone status. Movement will be generally toward the west for about 24 hours then may reverse to eastward at midweek. Given the confining nature of the Gulf of Carpentaria, there is a good chance for a tropical cyclone landfall in this part of northeastern Australia later in the week.
