Damp and overcast Baltimore to Boston

1. The pressure analysis shows the Northeast weather is being dominated by a cold high pressure area to the north. However, the flow looks too easterly for subfreezing air to reach south much past Boston or Providence. In contrast, Bradford and Warren in northwestern Pennsylvania have had heavy snow today. Ice is a threat between the snow and plain rain zones.
2. The prevailing upper-air flow is from the southwest and, except for brief changes, should stay that way well into next week. However, the third map below shows an entirely different setup in the week after next week:
