Slippery conditions for parts of the Northeast tonight

January 07, 2019; 9:48 AM

Today's video forecast:

The surface map shows a low pressure area near the Mississippi River. It will spread rain across the Midwest and a mixture of snow, sleet and rain into parts of the Northeast tonight and tomorrow. Philadelphia and New York City could escape the snow and ice problems but areas inland from there and up into the mountains could become slippery. Tomorrow should become milder in these areas, but then a cold front will arrive from the west. It will be colder throughout the Northeast Wednesday through Friday. Any storm developing of the southern Plains could bring the year's first threat of snow from parts of the Carolinas into southern New England this weekend.
