A few more mild days, then wintry air will settle in

December 02, 2017; 6:37 PM

The mild air will hang on for another a few more days (2 west, 3-5 east) down South before much colder air settles in to stay for a while. The front leading the southward charge of cold air will cause heavy, perhaps gusty, thunderstorms. The rain is needed in most places but the severe potential isn't. Later next week, we'll be watching for potential snow in the Appalachians and over areas toward the Ohio River and Mason-Dixon Line.
