Sunshine to Follow Rainy Days in Seattle
October 01, 2013; 11:18 AM
After a soggy start to the week, rain will slowly diminish through midweek for the Seattle area.
The jet stream, a riverlike feature of fast winds in the upper atmosphere, is beginning to strengthen and dip farther south as the season changes. This is pulling more disturbances into the Pacific Northwest and will be the continuing trend.
The month of September has already been a soaker in the weather books. Seattle normally has about 1.5 inches in the month of September, but reached 6.21 inches this year. Olympia received 9.2 inches this September, compared to their normal 7.59 inches.
Rainy days are expected in the city through the second day of October, clearing up to mostly sunny skies Thursday.
Tuesday and Wednesday will bring high temperatures around 57 degrees along with cloudy skies and rain. Evening lows will be in the 40s.
However, Thursday, Friday are expected to be dry with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s.
The city's next chance for showers is Saturday.
