Q: How do I add, save or delete a location?
Website: AccuWeather.com stores the last 5 locations you've searched for, and these locations will appear when you place your cursor over the drop-down arrow to the right of your most recently viewed location. They cannot be changed manually, but they will be replaced as you search for additional locations. Clearing your cookies will cause them all to be removed.

If, however, your browser is not set to recognize or save cookies/temporary files, you will always go to the default locations upon return. You will need to make sure this feature is enabled in your web browser if you wish to save preferred locations upon return visits.

Mobile Website: Our mobile website will store the last 3 locations you've searched for, and these locations can be found by selecting the white location bar in the upper-left hand corner of the site. From the pop-up menu you can select one of your stored locations, or search for a different location by selecting "Use Current Location" or entering your city or zip code in the search box. Stored locations will be replaced as you search for additional locations. Clearing your browser's cookies will clear all your stored locations.

iOS: To manage locations, tap on the location name displayed on any screen on which it is present. This will present you with the location management menu.

You can also swipe right to left to access this screen.

Add a Location: Type a location name in the add location window at the top of the screen. Then select the location you wish to add. You can also select to use your current location from this screen.

Delete a Location: Press and hold on the location you wish to delete. To delete the location - next to the location and then select Delete.

Please note that you are unable to delete your current location.

Android: - To access your current location, simply touch the three-dot (...) icon on the screen and tap on Find Me (GPS). In order for this to work properly your GPS needs to be enabled on your device

To add a location, press the sandwich menu on the top left of the screen. Tap on the "Location Search" field and start typing location name or Zip Code. You can also click on the voice mic icon and speak the location name. Keep tying in the location search box until your location appears in the list and then click your location from the list to add it to the application.

To delete a location, press the sandwich icon. This will open the location list. Please do a long press on the location that you want to delete. The trash can icon would appear in front of all the locations. Click on the trash can icon in front of the location name that you want to remove from the list. If you deleted a wrong location by mistake please click on Undo option that appears after you delete a location. The location list needs at least two locations (not including the current GPS location) before you can delete a location.

Q: How do I change Fahrenheit to Celsius or vice versa?
Android: In order to change the units, tap the action icon (3 vertical dots) at the top right.

Then select Change to either °F or °C. You can also change the units in the settings. Units is the first selection under the settings menu, which is also accessed by tapping the 3 vertical dots.

iOS: To change display units between Fahrenheit and Celsius press the 3 horizontal dots at the bottom of the screen. The first option on the next screen is to change the units. Simply press on the unit measurement you wish to use.

Mobile web: Navigate to "My Settings" from any page of our mobile website by selecting "Menu" in the top, right-hand corner of the site. Scroll down to the bottom of the menu and select "My Settings". From the settings page you can select your temperature units, time format, a recent location and your language. Once you've set your settings to your liking, select "Done" in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.

Website: Navigate to the upper right side of the page where it states a language and country, followed by either °F or °C and a settings wheel. Hover over that and highlight in orange the unit you prefer.

Q: Why is my address showing up in MinuteCast?
Our technology tracks precipitation at approximately 0.5 square mile resolution. So, we are able to provide you with these minute-by-minute precipitation forecasts for where you are currently located - right down to your neighborhood or even your exact street address, and not just your town or zip code. Your location information is not kept or stored by AccuWeather and is only used to send a precise MinuteCast forecast.

All AccuWeather products honor device location settings and only processes precise location data to provide functionality that users ask for, such as severe weather alerts, or location-specific forecasts. Whenever possible, we have reduced the precision of location data to protect our user's privacy. We have taken steps to ensure that location data is only stored or used to support the features our users use, such as saved locations.

Q: Why are there so many ads?
In order to keep AccuWeather a free service, we need to use advertisers to cover the cost of operating the best weather app and website. We do offer an ad-free service called Platinum - which you can download for a small cost through an in-app purchase.

Q: Why is MinuteCast different than the Current Condition or Hourly Forecast?
We are aware that there can sometimes be differences between MinuteCast, the current condition, and the hourly forecast. This is due to small differences in how each dataset is created and when it's updated. We are continuously working to enhance the accuracy and consistency of this information.

Q: How do I get more data if I don't want to use Facebook to log in?
Using your Facebook log in is only necessary if you would like access to view an additional 10 days of forecasts. The AccuWeather app will function the same, with the standard 15 days of forecast data without utilizing the Facebook log in feature. The extra 10 days of forecasts can also be unlocked by purchasing the paid version of the app for $3.99, which also includes an ad-free experience.

Q: How do I view the radar map?
iOS: In order to view the future radar, simply left to right to access the map. Here you will also find the option to switch between Radar (precipitation), Satellite World & US (cloud cover), AccUcast, Watches/Warnings, Zika Risk, and Thunderstorm Alerts.

You can also access Future Radar by, selecting the Radar tab on the top of the landing screen

Android: To access future radar, go to the Radar section in the list at the top of the screen

Then press the orange floating button on the map and choose between Future Radar, Past Radar, Satellite, AccUcast, Watches/Warnings,Temperature Contour and Zika.

You will also find the tropical/hurricane layer in this section when there is an active storm.

Website: From the homepage of AccuWeather.com, you can click where it says "Radar and Maps" to access Interactive Radar, Satellite, Severe, Precipitation, and Forecast Maps.

Mobile Website: Touching the "Radar" or "Maps" tab in the black navigation bar will bring you to the entrance for the new experience. Touching the orange expand button or the small preview map will expand the map to full screen. From there the map is controlled with your device specific touch actions - pinch and zoom, drag to pan the map - all of the controls you are used to are now enabled in our map experience. The map also now drops a blue pin indicating your location.

Additionally, you can now access Future Precipitation Radar for US locations. In order to view the Future Precipitation Radar, simply use the toggle button on the full screen Map view near the "Play" arrow and the map key. You can then select between Past (our standard and unchanged radar) and Future Precipitation Radar for your location.

We still offer our Classic maps view which zooms to a city level by selection a city from the list shown below the map view. This Classic view is reachable by touching the "State" button above the preview map or by touching the "Classic" banner under the small preview map.

If you are unable to view the enhanced map experience it is likely that you have disabled Javascript on your phone and would have to enable it before you can utilize the updated map interface. The method to enable Javascript is device specific; -please see your device manual for more information.

Q: How do I clear my cache?
iOS:First access your device settings.

Then go to AccuWeather.

Here toggle on Reset cached content.

Then restart the application.

If that doesn't work you can toggle on Reset to defaults.

Please note, doing this will remove all of your saved settings and locations.

Android: To do so first go to Settings. Then tap on Application Manager (It may be called Apps on your device).

Tap on AccuWeather. Tap on the clear cache icon. (If you do not see the clear cache icon, select Storage and then the clear cache icon will appear.

If this does not resolve your issue, please repeat the steps but select Clear Data instead.

Please note, this will clear all of your saved locations.

Q: How do I manage notifications?
iOS:To set up the locations you wish to receive a notification for, swipe to access to the locations menu.

Then select manage notifications at the bottom of the screen.

Then tap the circle beside the location or locations that you wish to receive notifications for. A check mark will then appear in the circle.

Android: You can now select to receive alerts for as many locations as you wish.

Access the severe alert settings and check the box beside the locations you wish to receive alerts for. To stop an alert, simply un-check the box next to that alert.

Q: Why do you need access to my contact list?
AccuWeather does not need access to your contact list, but if the share feature of the application is utilized and the user chooses to share an image via text, then the contact list will display only for purposes of sharing that image. The share function in the AccuWeather app requires access to the user's contact list, but we don't store or read contact for any other purpose.

No data is stored anywhere outside of the limited amount needed for the app to function. We may retain certain information as needed to comply with applicable law.
